Andrew Bertram MA MFT
Registered Clinical Counsellor
My journey to become a therapist began far before I even realized it was happening. I’ve always been sensitive to others emotions, soft spoken, and tend to prefer listening rather than speaking. For a long time, I believed these were weaknesses. However, I have come to embrace those traits as strengths in assisting me to facilitate space for others to also discover and embrace who they are.
It takes a lot of courage to come to therapy and my desire is to honour that courage in each of my clients. I believe that we all have personal strengths and resiliency that can help us achieve change in our lives. At times we can become stuck and lose track of those resources. I believe the counselling relationship can be a safe and non-judgemental space for clients to rediscover those resources. Beyond your specific goals you bring to therapy, my hope is that you will also discover greater congruence, self-esteem, and the capacity to make healthier choices.
I have a BA in Counselling, a MA degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, and am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I draw from many different client-centered modalities to help you reach your goals in therapy, including: emotion focused therapy, Satir transformational systemic therapy, accelerated resolution therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, play therapy, psychoeducation, mindfulness, solution focused therapy, and narrative therapy.
